It arrived with quite a bit of handle play. It was also lighter than I expected but it handles most tricks I throw at it. It is not a great flipper but quite a cute little pen for the money.

Fun, simple little toy. I never received any complaints for using it at work and it was just nice and cool to have there sometimes. As a pen, it gets the job done, but it's definitely not a great option as a balisong trainer as it is made of cheap plastic and is very lightweight (which is usually not an enthusiast preference) but it's nice to have. Its tradeoff for not being a good balisong trainer is that it can be used to write with and it is not very expensive. It would be rather costly if it was a regular pen, but, you see, this is no regular pen. Based on my understanding, the Heavy Duty BaliYo is probably a better enthusiast option but it will obviously cost more. I've had this for a few months, I stopped using it regularly but it hasn't broken on me so that's good. I don't really use it anymore because I haven't been bringing it to work and because now I have better balisong trainer options for at home and outside of work. I may eventually buy the heavy duty one some day.

Ok here is the deal this toy is awesome!!! The shipping is great. It got here 3 days earlier. My problem with the balisongs is that it is illegal. I can't bring it to school and flip it through the boring classes and annoy the teacher with the noise :) So i looked for an alternative. I found the baliyo and i was very very exited! I read the reviews that said that it is a skill based toy and i absolutely agree with that. But it is not harder to flip than any balisong knife. It is a bit light but after 10 minutes you get used to it and you don't even notice it. Plus you don't have to worry for it to come out of your hand and kill someone. I am very very satisfied with this toy. If you child is in to flipping knives then buy it to him/her. It is great chip and useful. The pen works great and i am satisfied with it as well. But the pen is not very easy to use but with a bit of practice it is perfect. But-om line is that this toy is great!!! If you have a doubt buy it you wont regret it. And despite what it shows in the picture the pen is a solid black color.

This is a gift so I havnt actually wrote with it but it came in a nicely presented in a box with all the component pieces. Had a little play and it works as it should .... nice little stocking filler, my son will love it!

We have bought 4 of these, all from this same seller. All work perfectly. I'm a bit confused by one of the reviews, saying there is no hole in the pen, it has a lid on. It just not very obvious at first glance. My kids write with them very easily but it's not a pen I could write with myself. Still 5 stars though, does exactly what the description says it does.

Love this little pen, super light and the fidget factor is amazing. Writes like a champ as well. The only con I would add is that the pocket clips are easily pulled off– however luckily they're easy enough to put back in place. Overall would definitely buy again.

I love to just screw around with this while walking around campus. Some people will get a bit confused until they see it's just a pen. It's a step down in fear factor by people who have an irrational fear of these because balisongs are apparently more deadly than every other knife because you flip them around and stuff from a balisong trainer knife.

This butterfly pen is a fun, practical, and safe writing utensil; a precursor to a butterfly knife. While I won't be upgrading to the knife any time soon this pen is super fun to open up and flip. If I'm stuck with writer's block, this is a great chance for me to have some entertainment as I wait for my next thought. Would recommend based on price/enjoyment​ factor.

Our 8 year old nephew really wanted a big boy knife but no one in our family was comfortable with him having one at his young age Instead, my husband got him this pen so he could practice how to use the knife and also be able to use as a good beginner practice knife. He is able to learn and work on his movement before having to upgrade to an official practice flipper. It is not that great to write with, but he loves it and considers it close to a big boy knife.

The pen is made out of a rubbery plastic so it feels kind of rubbery to the touch. It is not that comfortable to write with but it is more of a novelty pen than a practical pen!
