The weeder is sturdily constructed. I used it on my lawn to remove crabgrass and dandelions. As mentioned in other reviews, the weeder needs to be centered on the weed as the prongs extend to the weed. Then stepping down on the petal, using one complete turn and then lift to extract the weed. I disengaged the weed easily into my yard can by pushing down on the knob. With the winter rains, my yard was very wet so extraction was easy. I suspect this tool will not work on a dry lawn. I'd plan to use after watering in summer months. It does leave a divot as the weeder removes the dirt bound roots. That doesn't bother me. Glad to have this tool to assist with weeding my yard

This weed tool is similar to the Weed Hound by Hound Dog. My neighbor has the Hound Dog and it works incredibly well. I wanted the same one but it appears it is no longer available. I searched and this item came up after a week or so. For some reason it did not come up in the original searches. I have used both the Hound Dog and this Worth item and I also compared it to the Hound Dog, side by side. The Hound Dog appears to be built a little better, it has a better brace at the foot, has 6 spines rather than the 5 on the Worth, and the Hound Dog is a bit heaver. The length of the spines on the Worth is the same as the Hound Dog. Although spines on the Hound Dog appear to be a little stronger but so far no issue with the Worth.

We (high school baseball program) own several types, including the Fiskars (very good) and store branded ones. I was a little skeptical about this one before I purchased it, but it is definitely my favorite weeder now. The twist motion turned out to be no big deal at all (fast), and the nail grabber is good for pulling all kinds of weeds out of our manicured grasses. I can even pull very young weeds without going all the way in, leaving no meaningful hole at all. In general the hole is smaller than the knife type grabbers. The ejector requires no bending, much appreciated. I would say that for all but a few difficult weeds, this is our fastest weeder and is half the price of the deluxe Fiskars, which is my 2nd favorite. One small beef is the neoprene grip is cheap and slips (fixable).

Watch yourself peeps, this thing can be addictive. It's simple to use and very sturdy. My advice, get it right in the center of the weed so you can get as much out as possible. I usually can get the whole sucker out. It leaves holes about the size of a quarter in your lawn, however, that can be good for aerating. My only critique of this thing is the foam thingie that they put on the handle which I can only assume is designed to provide some comfort, but it does not. It slips around. Man up, or use gloves and pull that damn thing off. One more thing, twist it a good 3 or 4 times until you can feel the weed release then pull. And if you get a weed stuck or jammed in it, flip it over and smack the release button on the ground (like my 2 year old does when he's helping) and it will pop right off.

This is without a doubt one of the best garden tools I own! This summer I decided to attack the insane amount of dandelions we had. It was SOOOOO bad, but I refuse to use the chemicals and nastiness known as weed and feed. Frankly it would do us all some good to remember that life takes work...get down there and touch the earth. This is a great way to save your back for the hoards of dandelions, though! It really gets a hold of the root and pulls them out! Yes, it can be a bit difficult to get the whole taproot with this, but it still does a great job overall. It gets jammed on occasion, but nothing a screwdriver can't fix. Just dig out a little of the dirt, and boom...it is good as new. This is all metal and stands up to pretty much everything you can throw at it. I am thrilled - money well spent!

It's pretty much user friendly - I know it has instructions, but whatever. Also. visually it makes no sense logically that it will work - I envisioned something that would bite down on all sides of the offending dandelion root, and then on the upstroke would close around it and yank it out. Instead, what it does is squash down with its nail-claw bearing plate the whole plant into the ground, and then, inextricably, when pulled up, carries the whole plant with it. So... all I can say is that it really works. On especially large or spread out d's, it only pulls out what it can (so bigger might be better, but... eh) so deal with it. Also, in gravelly soil, (say, by your driveway) it won't push down past the below ground gravel; you'll have to revert to manual labor. Otherwise it works just fine, and I highly recommend it.

I'm very happy with this weed puller. I was initially looking for one that is fashioned after those pronged asparagus weeders, only on a long pole. Do they even make that I wonder? Anyway this one does everything it advertises. I noticed one reviewer stated yes, you do have to touch the weeds in order to remove them. That's not true at all in my yard. Once I have pulled the weed I'm able to position the weed puller over my trash can and whack the pole with my hand and the weed dislodges and falls into the trash. I got pretty good at being able to aim it from a distance and toss it into the trash can. I've managed to pull weeds of varying sizes with this tool. Sometimes with very thick clumps of grassy-type weeds I might have to insert the tool more than once. I've also found that giving it a twist after inserting into the weed works well. So to sum it up, yes I do recommend this tool.

I really love this tool. My husband always did the gardening, but I lost him a year ago, and I had no clue what to do. After hiring a “landscaper” and being overcharged and still left with 100s of weeds. He said he had used a weed killer, however the 5’ to 7’ tall weeds told a different story. After asking him if he used “Miracle Grow”, I decided to try to find a tool to help me. I am so happy that I picked this weeder. It is really well made and I have no fear of falling when using this product. But the best part is I am getting these weeds out without any help. There were many huge weeds left by my “landscaper” and one ginormous weed. It was up against and under a wood retaining wall and each time I thought I had gotten it out, there was another limb to get. It took me almost two hours and after 5 long limbs (each the size of zucchinis!) I finally got it out. After all of that, I was still standing, however, the giant weed was not!

I've been using this weed removal tool for about two weeks now, and I love it. It's simply designed and rugged, a combination of which I am fond. The only parts that aren't quality metal are the plastic and rubber push knob at the top (which works fine as is) and the foam grip on the handle (which arrived with a small split that spread until it came off after one day of extensive use--which was okay because I discovered I prefer to use it grip-less). Most important, it works as advertised. Keys to success: 1.) Center the tool over the section of the weed where its root enters the soil; if you miss, just adjust your aim and try again. 2.) Push the foot pedal all the way down until it's flush with the lawn surface to ensure maximum penetration and nail convergence/constriction. Let your weight do the work. 3.) Twist the tool at least a full 360 degrees before lifting it back up. If done right, you'll end up with a satisfying, significant clawful of intact weed with a earth/clay plug at the base. It works best on mature, broad leaf weeds, but I've even had success with clusters of crabgrass and creeping weeds when I can locate their points of origin.

These tools are tough to get used to, all of them. So don't freak out and exercise patience otherwise you are just going to break any brand's product. By far, this is the toughest one I have used! It works as advertised and can do its job on bigger weeds than advertised nicely. My 10 year old can use it, my wife as well, and so can I.... all with it being easy and withstanding our abuse.
