Read a few complaints that it doesn't work without sunlight....that the stream of water isn't high/strong/full enough.....really??????! My first thought was...then spend hundreds or thousands of dollars, have large equipment installed, run the cash & energy using an electric pump and be sure to do regular maintenance! We've had one of those once, no question it was lovely but now that doesn't take sense for us and for basically zero effort, a reasonable price there's just enough movement and splashing in our small pool to create what a fountain is meant to do.

I love these fountains. They come with multiple nozzles for various fountain styles. Choose the one you like best, place it in the bird bath, and that's about it. My bird bath is small enough that most of the nozzles result in having to refill the bird bath multiple times a day. If you don't put any of the nozzles on, the pump will not spray water out of the bird bath but still allows the water to circulate.

I shook it in the house like it says to and when I walked out the door with it and it hit the sun I felt it immediately. I put it in my bird bath full of water and it immediately started working. I tried all the attachments, it put a tall spray in the air so I just used the base attachment without the top attachments and it bubbled perfectly for what I wanted. I did go to the dollar store and bought a few bags of the colored glass stones in the floral area and sprinkled them around the fountain to keep it centered or else it floats around. I am very pleased with it. I can't imagine people giving it a bad review as a matter of fact I bought a second one for the birdbath in the backyard

This pump is more powerful than I expected. I went back and forth between this and the more powerful version and this one is more than enough. I am using it in a standard birdbath about 12" across. It comes with 6 different fountain heads so you can decide what kind of fountain spray you like. The height of the fountain spray is kind of random. Sometimes very high, sometimes low. I don't know if this is a feature of the pump or just a function of the solar power being stronger/less strong depending on sunlight. It works in cloudy weather too. One nice bonus were the "sticks" that attach to the edges to help keep the fountain centered in the birdbath. Otherwise, it floats all over and the water sprays out of the birdbath. I've only had it for a month, but so far, so good. I'd buy it again.
