Only hubby and I and it is the right size. I also love big salads for lunch, so I make my own salad in here. I think you could flip over the cutting side and use the underside for a bowl if you wanted to. I have my favorite salad bowl, so I haven't tried that yet. If you're on the edge as to whether to try, just do it. I'm also sending one as a gift.

I read a complaint that the cutting surface showed wear, so I cut a circle out of a flexible cutting mat to protect the surface. I pack the bowl full, so to turn the half-cut leaves 90 degrees after the first pass, I just reach in and grab everything in my hand, give it a twist, replace the cutting mat and base, and continue cutting. I really like the way this works, and it’s easy to clean.
