I tried a different model that had shock but it was so bulky on my dog that I didn't like it and I never needed to use the shock so it was pointless to have the prongs digging into her neck. This one has no prongs and it's just exactly what I wanted. Battery life is great in both the collar and the remote although there is no where to see what the life is left in the collar. It just starts to beep when it needs to be charged. Would highly recommend if you are looking for something for your smaller dog with no shock.

This has improved my dog's behavior immensely. I find myself using the beep more than the vibration. I'm very pleasantly surprised at how quickly it has made a difference in my dog. She's an American bulldog and my primary issues were with her pulling while on walks and darting. There's also an issue with her getting overly excited when other dogs were around and this helps with all of that. I never had an issue with her in regards to barking so I can't attest to how well this works in that regard but overall I am very very pleased.
