I definitely wouldn't recomment flying anywhere near hard dirt or pavement, as you will be crashing often (and crashing hard). Also be sure you have a VERY large area to work with. The plane goes farther and faster than you expect.

This rc plane is a lot of fun! Once the battery was charged I took it to the park to test it out. It's very simple to get it in the air and fly it around. The gyro assist is helpful if you are brand new to flying or if you are a bit rusty. I accidently put the plane into a nosedive a couple times and it hit the ground pretty hard. Surprisingly everything held together and I had it back in the air right away. This plane is very light so I do not recomend that you fly it if its windy. If you are new to rc planes or a seasoned pilot, I guarantee you will have fun with this plane.

Yes you can spend more and get more, but if you want to test the waters this isn't a bad way to start. It has a fairly simple setup, and about 10 minute flight time but the controls were easy to understand and we were up and flying within 20 minutes. This is not for heavy winds, it is a very light plane with very small control surfaces but if you use it in low to no wind its a real fun time. In beginner mode this plane was flown by a 10 year old and 7 year old with a few crashes and came out unscathed, by the end of the battery both kid pilots were doing things like buzzing the grass and circling overhead, i'm not sure if the kids were impressive or the plane but either way tons of fun can be had by people of all alges.

I thought this 2s airplane would be a little too fast flying for a beginner,imo. I started with a 1s Sport Cub, before moving up to Timber. But you can't get around the fact this airplane is so easy to fly! There are going to be kids that this will be a fine starter aircraft, especially with SAFE. Can't say enough about safe. You won't regret buying one of these!
