At first, I worried that the claw may not pick up candy. The egg shells come with machine works well enough. I can put smaller candies in there. After a few practice runs, we can all pick up one shell. Then we put all shapes of candy: square chocolate bars, hard Jolly ranchers, Milky ways, Snickers in different size: small ones, fun size ones, Godiva balls shaped truffles. With enough tries, the claw can grab them. The chain turns the claw as it go up and down, so it grabbed some candies in strange ways, which is a part of the fun.

Mine came with a volume control but for extra measure because I am sound sensitive, I put tape over the speaker to lower the sound. Works perfectly, only the motor that moves the claw around is sort of loud when it moves, it's not too big of a problem. I am very excited to have this for my game room.

Bought this as a gift, the recipient loves it, and cleared all of the toys out of it already. Refilled with candy, and it is nearly cleared out again. Only 2 gripes about the machine are it would have been nice to add a plug instead of having to use batteries and a volume adjustment, the sound is quite loud and gets old after about 100 consecutive tries. A layer of duct tape over the speaker grille(underneath the machine) reduces the sound to an acceptable level. Funny, as I am typing this I hear it go off in the other room. It might be time to refill it again.....

FYI.... you have to insert a coin for the machine to turn on. I thought it was broken when I first turned it on and nothing happened. Anyway, my niece and nephew love it! They played for hours Christmas Eve but the volume is so loud every adult in the house was ready to chuck the thing outside... which tickled me if I’m being honest. The claw isn’t terribly strong. I bought fun sized candy and 2” finger puppets, and the claw was able to grab/drag most things I put in it. Just don’t overfill it, the claw has a hard time dragging objects over terrain. Overall a great buy!!
