I keep mine tethered to one side of my pool that gets the most sun so it gets about a solid 5-7 hours of direct sunlight per day and the algae growth has completely stopped. This is not my first, I gave this a try in our inground pool, and was amazed. You will not need algaecide, or chlorine, which saves tons of money and no chlorine in your eyes. It really works, I use 2 in my pool as my pool is large, and it works all year, all you have to do is clean the copper anodes once a week with a wire brush, it is the best thing I have ever found for my pool. I am having to clean the copper rod once a week and this takes about 15 ish minutes. I have broken 1 of the plastic butter fly nuts so I am actually on amazon now to order another few get another rod. I will be asking customer service about how long the rods should last.

I dropped this in my pool on 8/29/2020 and added a small amount of chlorine once since then. This is 11/12/2020. That is an incredible difference from normal. I would have added shock nearly weekly. A person should probably buy an extra copper rod and swap it out and clean the other on in the meantime. It takes about 15-30 minutes to remove the corrosion off the copper rod. It is amazing to see the effect of the rod. But we’ll worth it for me. I use a drill and steel wire brush to clean the rod personally.

I use 20% of what I used to use and the pool stays clear, no algae(yet) in 5 weeks of hot sunny/ rainy weather. Grandkids swim without goggles due to low chlorine content. I do a light shock every week( one pkg of hth super shock) or 1 or 2 tabs in the chlorination each week. Much less than before I got the ionizer. So far so good. I have a 30,000 gallon 20x40 in ground pool. I use 1 Remington Sun Shock unit.

So far it works amazingly well especially for the month of July which typically is the worst month to control algae. Generally we have to shock and scrub repeatedly and still have algae despite very high chlorine levels in July.

Been battling green algae all year in the Phoenix area, been a rough summer for some reason, tons of chemicals to no avail. New water didn't help and then one of my co workers bought one of these and said all his algae issues went away. So I purchased one and low and behold clear blue pool in about 3 days with no more chemicals...yay. The kids even were amazed cause their eyes were not burning for the first time this summer. On the first cleaning of the copper anode it was caked with calcium deposits, will have to see what it looks like next week.
