The first speed is good enough for me and the noise level is pretty good considering the fans are right by your ears. I would equate it to having a fan on in the room. It does get louder as you turn up the fan level, but its to be expected. The band is bendable so you can adjust the placement on your shoulders to make sure the wind is hitting you in the optimal way. All in all, its comfortable, cool, and having a rechargeable battery is an added bonus.

On full power the fam lasted up to 6 hrs periodically turning it off when we got on rides. But we kept portable charges to charge it and had an extra spare to use while the dead pair was charging. For the battery life I work a 8 hour shift, I turned it off during my break and when I was away from the kitchen. So it lasted to the very end. But I did charge it overnight and I did use different settings through out my shift. So it will vary depending on what setting a person will use it on through out the day.
