Overall from an old tool guy, I highly recommend this lathe as long as you realize that this is for small turning only. Easy to set up and switch between projects. The only downside to these is finding a bed extension, you're not going to find one. I'm critical of things, as a systems design engineer it's kind of what I do. I used a Harbor Freight mini lathe for years before replacing it with this one (I don't like to spend much on equipment). I wish I would have replaced it sooner, the WEN is far superior. There are plastic parts, the tailstock does not move smoothly, the motor is definitely underpowered for anything over 4" wide, but overall I believe this is the best lathe to learn on, or add to your small workshop.

I am not easy or "nice to my tools and after a little over a month and quite a few hours of use, this thing doesn't miss a beat. Would absolutely buy again. Very compact, my work area is a 4' squared table to which I have several other tools mounted to and this tool doesnt take up unnecessary space.
