The cutting action is not scissors-like that twists the nail but rather is guillotine-like that does not twist at all. We've tried so many nail clippers I can't begin to count. This is a life-saver. All our cats actually sit and wait to get their nails cut. The light is a great idea and helps tremendously to see their nails (especially our black nailed cat). They seem to feel so much better with their nails trimmed. I liked this product, however, I do think there's room for improvement. The flimsy little magnifying glass/trimming catching piece is not really of any help. It doesn't stay in place and just gets in the way I think. Also, the position of the light is something to rethink. The light should be aligned so that it hits the nail/claw at the right angle, in order to be useful. The whole purpose of having the light is to be able to track and see the quick. If the light isn't hitting the nail at the right angle for you to see, then it's useless. Overall, I think it's a decent purchase, and would recommend.

I bought two different nail clippers and was always very nervous clipping my golden retrievers nails. I had a very hard time seeing the nail vain my eyesight is not same as when I was younger and even with glasses it was hard to see.
