She has had it for a few months. I bought her a big kit of prepared slides with it and she just told me a couple of days ago that she wants to collect some pollen from outside and make her own slide with it so that she can see what it looks like. I purchased this microscope for the purpose of looking at larger objects, about the smallest thing I've looked at so far is mites, for that type of application, this microscope is perfect, looking at smaller objects than mites is far more advanced than my capabilities, simply because I have no idea what I'm looking at. Just playing around, I kicked it up to 1000X, and couldn't get it to focus at all, without running the lens into the slide, to make a long story short, I'm in dire need of more education before I can make a better assessment.

Really a very nice microscope! Only thing I don't like is there is no storage case for this. It comes in a plain brown cardboard box, encased in styrofoam. I really really wish there was a storage case to put it in. It does come with a dust cover though. It's easy to use and has plenty of features. Well worth the money. Our biology class is going to be far more enjoyable now.

Purchased this for my 7 year old son and it's a great microscope for beginners. We use he amscope 25 piece specimen set with it and it's great. The only clear magnification we can get is with the 100x. The light at the bottom is extremely bright and hurts your eyes. I added a piece of Kleenex over it to soften it and that helps but this will definitely hurt your eyes if you use it too long.

Bought this for my 8 year old son for his birthday. At first, images were extremely blurry and I thought it was broken until we adjusted the screw so that the platform could be raised higher. After that, the images were clear and both my son and six year old daughter were having fun looking at all of the slides. The microscope came with everything that is shown including a dust cover and plenty of empty slides to make our own. We bought the Amscope MU300 digital camera with it, and that ended up being a great purchase!

I am not very experienced with microscopes but I was able to help show her how to properly use it. The glass slides can be a bit sharp on the edges so she will need my help in making new slides for some time but I am glad that we are able to discover and learn together. We received some duplicate pre-made slides which was kind of disappointing. The unit is well built and heavy for its size.
