The bottom part is pretty narrow and I didn't think my pup was going to fit, but once I zipped it she was fine. She loves it and it let me be hands free when she just wants to be held or if we go somewhere. If your dog is more than 5 lbs I'd definitely go a size up. The strap is comfortable for me but my dog barely weighs anything so I'm sure that helps. It is well made and for the proce you just can't beat it.
