I used it a good 10 times before figuring out that it required a LOT of force to lock into place.Also, make sure that you pay attention to how long you spin the egg for, and with how much force you do/don't use.For me, I tried anywhere between less force for 10 minutes, to more force for 15 seconds. The issue arises when you use *too much* spin force, for *too long*. When you do this, the shells WILL crack once starting to boil, and the result is not pretty.The "sweet spot" for my amount of force is around 15-20 seconds.
