I say as long as you have a.sturdy spot to clamp it to, it should hold just fine. I clipped this on the back of the seat on the first flight and sat back and relaxed. It even makes the seat area feel more spacious and leaves the tray table free. On the return flight I had to clip it onto the back of the tray table but raised it up above the tray so there was still plenty of room.
