Outdoor means waterproof, so it can be hung on a tree and left there, though you do have to consider how to waterproof your extension cord connection. I opened the drawer and found 10 wax moths that were trying to get into my bee hive. It gets mosquitos, fruit flies, moths, etc. I do wish the cord was longer. The short cord makes it tougher to hand this zapper.
