However, I do want to bring up something that is easily disregarded and it's your own set-up, like for myself, I had small sand-like substrate at the bottom of the tank and the typical gravel cleaner would suck up the sand as well filling the filter sock constantly, adding more time in the process entirely.

I really like it. I have used this for almost one year, about 6 times to clean my sump. It does an excellent job of vacuuming the detritus from the bottom, in which it must pump the water up and over to a 32g collecting can. I have changed the hoses, now using an old fluval 404 hose. The handle makes it easy and it fits perfectly into my sponge/pre-return narrow chamber of the sump. Hair algae will quickly stop the impeller so I make sure none is present in the refugium.
