(the bag they supply is too small) It's a little cumbersome, but I don't see how they could make it less so. I don't have any problem getting the water out of my tank as a simple siphon and a long tube would do the work. But to get the water in, I used the garden hose from the front yard as it is close to the goldfish aquarium that is sitting in the living room. However, it is difficult to do this in winter time as it is cold in Arkansas from Dec to Feb, even Arkansas is located south. The water from the front yard garden hose is cold. It is not good to let the goldfish encounter the cold water directly. I had to put the goldfish into the other 5-gallon tank, and then do the water change. When the water temperature is heated up, I put the goldfish back to the big tank again which is a pain in the winter time.

The first time I use it to suck some poop out, before I know it, half of tank is gone. Now I mostly use the mesh filter, let the cleaned water return, super easy and painless, and my 2 gold fish are happy. The filter itself is easy to wash and clean. My only con is the pump has to be all soaked in the water to work, so for my turtles who enjoy low water level, this does not work at all. But just for my fish, this deserves 5 stars, I would never go back to my siphon cleaner.

Then I remembered I was an idiotic male who never reads the instructions anyway. I dumped the parts out of the bag and did it my way. If one end doesn't fit just try the other. (I bet the reviewer with what he/she thinks is a mismatched part is trying to follow these teeny diagrams and probably just needs to turn the part around and try the other end.) In the end it looked like it looks in the picture and worked like a charm. I like it so much that I used the suction cups to plant it in the aquarium like some sort of robotic tree. Nice touch. The fish like it; I like it. Everybody's very happy. I have to mention one last thing to pull a potential purchaser off the fence: supreme suction power, as strong as it gets. Yay!
