When originally ordering this shirt I ordered a size small for a 17lb female daschund (weiner dog) and it was way to big. The small would have been a better fit for a shih tzu. My sister had purchased Izzy an off-brand (Urubaby) of thunder calming vest which was very helpful, so I decided to get a second one so that I would have one available when the other was being washed. Well the one she purchased is no longer available, so I decided to try this one. This one is a little thinner, a little less stretch (but enough), and a bit shorter, but it gets the job done. I like the way this one goes on better than the other, I just wish it had a little more stretch and was a little longer.

This doesn't stop until a little while after whatever it was is over. She's going to be 12 in August and she is half Lhasa Apso half Terrier. I would end up holding her wrapped in a blanket for long periods of time when I was home and I have even used days of my paid time off just to stay home because I was worried. A ThunderShirt has an additional flap that is really nice for adjusting for a snug fit and keeping everything secure and the fabric is nicer. But for the price, MellowShirt seems great.

My 5 month old tiny little chihuahua is scared of EVERYTHING.. poor baby, so I tried this coat on her and it instantly calmed her down. No drugs, nothing, just the coat. It's very lightweight, super stretchy and very comfortable for my little girl. At first she was scared to have anything touch her head so I followed the directions and put some food on the coat and put it on her bed so she could see it was just a soft little piece of fabric. Now, weeks later she will come up to me, bow her head, and wait for me to put her "CALM COAT" (that's what we call it) on her. It has stopped her from peeing or pooping in the house at night when we are asleep and can't take her outside to go. I also put it on her if we have guests or if she seems scared of anything for any reason. I don't leave it on her all the time because if I did, all she would do is sleep. Since I've been using the coat she seems like she's gotten more courage and isn't as scared of things (when the coat is off) like she used to be. I tried 2 other brands of these coats and they were both too big and way too fussy for my tiny girl. Lola weighs only 5.5 pounds and the XXS fits perfectly! Her chest measurement is 12" around.

I got this for my Chihuahua because she has gotten really nervous when we get thunderstorms or fireworks are set off in our neighborhood. We've had it 2 wks and have used it three times so far. After the first time, when she was so calm, she actually decided she likes it (she doesn't like clothes normally), and now if we hear a loud noise I'll say 'do you need to put on your little t-shirt?' and she runs right to me to let me put it on her. She loves it and I think she realizes that it comforts her when she's scared. I won't even pretend to know how these shirts work, but I'm sure glad someone figured it out. The material is super soft and stretchy and I keep checking to make sure it's not too tight, but it seems to be really comfortable for her. If I had to make any suggestions to make it better, I'd make the velcro softer or at least have rounded edges, but I just took some scissors and rounded the corners and it seems fine now...not scratchy at all. It's honestly a blessing, because I hate having my baby girl scared!

I'd run after him and get him to the kitchen floor where there is no rug. On two occasions he actually had seizures. A friend of mine in Florida told me that she bought a wrap for her dog and that it made a big difference. For 20 something dollars I decided to order one that night. Two days later, when it arrived, we had a thunder storm. As soon as we heard it I put the wrap on. I picked him up and put him on my lap. I could never do that before when there was a storm. I put a throw over us and he stayed in my lap the whole time. He still shook but no running around with the diarrhea and nothing even close to a seizure. He actually ended up falling asleep. I've used it 5 times since then and after waiting a good hour or so after the thunder or fireworks are over he'll start spinning as I try to take it off. He wants it on. I was a non believer and I sure was wrong. Wish I'd gotten this a long time ago so that he didn't have to go through all that.
