I live in a high rise apartment building and have to climb up on the rail to reach the upper balcony to put them on. I put one of these on just to test it, now I can't get it off! I am a very hefty guy and was practically hanging from the magnet until I started feeling like if I pulled any harder I was going to fall to my death if it suddenly released. Nothing I could do but leave it and use it where it was. These magnets are now a permanent part of this building.

This is a great magnet for beginners to magnet fishing. A good value! I've gotten this thing stuck twice on a bridge support, but was able to pull it off from a good angle. Anything more powerful and I may have lost my magnet. The heaviest haul so far is a good sized hammer. Not sure of the weight, but still a good hefty haul. The hammer pic shows the magnet after about two dozen "fishing" trips (and about a hundred throws). It's a little scratched up, but not corroded. This magnet is best for "bobbing" and not so much for dragging. I do double check that the eye ring is tight, and the carabiner is tight every dozen throws or so. They can and have loosened a bit after multiple uses.

I have no way of testing the true rating of a magnet, but Neosmuk oversells their rating much less so than most other Retailers, in my experience. The caveat, "The effective pull force is reduced by uneven contact with the metal surface, pulling in a direction that is not perpendicular to the steel, attaching to metal that is thinner than ideal, surface coatings, and other factors..." tells the true tale but real-world experience tells me what works. If you are looking for one strong magnet then you came to the right place. These are SUPER strong. I had planned on using these to hold the rope that I attached the shade material to. I then was going to stick them to the metal part of my drip edge. Well I changed my mind and decided it may pull my drip edge off all together. So I used one to hold a piece of sheet metal inside the air ducts that kept flapping around. Now its not going anywhere. Is holding like a trooper. I have three left. I know I will find uses for them. My smaller magnets are holding my shop lights up to the frame of my metal shed. Those are small but powerful. These are 10 times larger and powerful. I know I'll find some place to use them. The price is great too. I highly recommend these magnets.
