I haven't dared put actual water in it so cant comment on how well that works (tbh i probably wont as i dont think the battery compartment is watertight). My daughter loves washing the pots with the detergent and scrubbing brush, and then drying them with the towel. The pans slot onto the hob and dont slide straight off really easily which is great for heavy handed toddlers.The toy food that it comes with is a choking hazard for under 3s and is also pretty terrible quality, so these were binned instantly.I fully recommend this for people short on space!
