Even if you get messed up, the app helps you get back on track—just don’t be in such a hurry to master this if this is your first time. The cube is smooth and responsive on both my iPhone 11 Pro and my iPad Pro. Yes, you do need an account. I used my Apple login (a new and easy way to log in using FaceID that keeps your privacy and generates a password for you). I would definitely recommend this cube and app for my friends and relatives who like puzzles.

There isn’t a way to tension the cube since the center cubes contain electronic components. The magnets in the cube are strong and help it snap into position when solving. The Bluetooth links up quickly and the cube is tracked nicely. The app has instructions for beginners to learn and also offers competition for speed cubers. Only thing is that it uses standard stickers that eventually come off with a lot of use. Charges up on USB connection and battery charge is indicated with blue LED under white center sticker. Battery level is indicated in the app. Makes a great gift for puzzle lovers

This cube is fantastic. It is very responsive, bluetooth connection works fine. I already have a GoCube and I love the GoCube. When I found out that the Rubix Connected is being made in partnership with GoCube, I was very excited. I am not too fond of stickered rubix cubes, but that is an opinion. It does not impede the way I use the cube. Obviously, I expected some trade offs since this cube is $20 lower than the GoCube. The notable differences in addition to the black color is the absence of back lighting (A feature that I hardly use) and the lack of a stand. The app experience (iPhone) is largely similar. I did see some people freaking out over the presence of a facebook button. You do not need to use your facebook account to login if you are paranoid about privacy. Use your apple id (if you have one). Apple shields your real email address, which helps a lot. Otherwise use your special email address where you opt in to receive newsletters, coupons etc to login. If you don't mind a stickered smart rubix cube, this one is the way to go. If you want a sticker less one and want the additional fluff, you can spend the additional $20 and get the GoCube model. Note that both of them perform just the same.
