I thought this might be a quick end of a Christmas present. New batteries were put in and it was put on the jar, press and hold the button and off it went. I thought it was going to break hearing it strain so much and it was making a few sounds besides the motor whirling as it struggled to open the jar but to our amazement it did open the jar. Unbelievable what this little thing could do. I am not sure how long it will last but what I saw on its maiden voyage was incredible and for sure proof that it could in fact take off a stuck lid.

This thing really works on most standard size jars; even worked with some coaxing on an over-sized square jar that the holding arms couldn't quite clear (but not really recommended). I liked it so much I ordered one for each of my single gal pals for Xmas! It is a plastic body, so avoid dropping it on hard surfaces (duh), and don't try to use it to open jars that it really doesn't fit on (outer holding arms). Read instructions so you are clear on how it works, and HOLD THE JAR at the bottom that you are trying to open so the jar doesn't go flying when the opener pops open the lid! I've only had this a couple weeks and only opened a few items so far, so can't speak to durability, but so glad I purchased this.

I was shopping Amazon for a better can opener and saw the RoboTwist. It's a lifesaver. It works! It's slow and a bit noisy, but it gets items open every time, with no spills. I've used it for a variety of items. Most helpful to me is opening Ensure bottles, which I'm drinking as a protein supplement to promote healing; those lids are 1.5 inches in diameter. Read the instructions--hold the button down while the outer claws tighten and until the inner claws start to move; then release the button. I keep my hand lightly on the body of the Robo during the opening and until the claws retract enough to remove it. I do not touch the jar/bottle at all during the opening process; it just sits on the counter. I have used the product daily for 3 weeks.

Don't expect it to work quickly, because it takes it's sweet time, but it DOES work and that's all that matters to me. You do have to place it upright (the way it sits on the jar) when you finish using it, in order for it to stop, as it is automatic. I absolutely love it! If I could think of any improvement, it would be to give a color choice so I could get red to match my kitchen :)

    This is a great product. It takes some getting used to but does the job. This is the second one I have bought. The first was for my 89 year old mother because she was having issues opening jars. She loves it and it works on most popular sizes from a jar of pickles to a soda bottle top. I just bought the second one for my sister who was very impressed with it. I don't think you can go wrong with this. Much better than the old manual type.
