It took my husband maybe 15 mins to set up by himself.. the mat isnt super thick but my very active 1yo has fell in there more than a few times and no bumps or bruises so i guess it works. I did buy little velcro strips for under the mat because she was pulling it up and just playing on the floor underneath the mat, that only worked for a few days so its a constant battle to keep her from pulling the mat up now but i guess that would happen with any playpen i buy….I like the fact that it came with those little foam pool noodle type things to go around the bars under the fabric too so when my baby goes ape s* running around like its a wrestling ring she doesnt smash her face onto the metal bar. All in all a good purchase. 5stars.
