This tool provides an excellent compromise between a high end and very expensive caliper and many of the quite cheap and low performance alternatives. It looks and feels like it should. The plastic versions are just not the same. There is some mass to this item when you pick it up and it has every feature I would want. I especially like the large, easily visible digits, and the fact that it displays ALL of the digits in the same large size in mm mode which I use most often, and only the fourth place digit at half size in inch mode – even that final smaller digit is still easy to read. So many calipers today seem to shrink many if not most of the digits. This one is always legible.

I like this because it is ready to go without pressing buttons. It is easy to read, and switches between decimal, fractions, metric and imperial measures quickly. If your material is 11/32nds of an inch, by pressing the options button, it will display the measurement in the form you require.

The best thing about this caliper is you just tap the power button to turn on and off. No need to hold it. Plus it turns on automatically and has a time delay to shut off. It doesn't have fractions which I think is a plus because I never use them. Mine was a little rough and gritty when sliding back and forth but I took a grinding stone and smoothed it out. I'm assuming it will get smoother over time. Accuracy seems good enough for 3d printing.
