A good beginners telescope for young children like ours (ages 6 and 2). This allows our kids to sit out on the deck and look at the moon and nearby objects. Our kids are excited with sky watching and conversations around satellites, stars and eclipses.

Given to our 8 year old son) but it won us over too. We are at the first experiences with the discovery of the universe but it has given us unique moments and images. Sure, there are better models on the market but as a first telescope it does more than we expected. Beyond the Moon we have seen Sirius and also Jupiter from the balcony of the house with all the lights of the city and we can't wait to be able to take him to the countryside where the conditions to find / see other celestial bodies are greater. I recommend it to all those who want to experience a first approach to the stars.

I bought this telescope for my niece a year ago. She absolutely loves it. After a year of abuse by a 10 year old girl and a 5 year old boy, it still looks and works as great as ever. It is a mostly plastic telescope and sheet metal tripod legs, but it is far better quality and more tough than other scopes in the same price range and if you're buying a first telescope for a rambunctious knuckle headed kid, you can't' beat it. The lenses are leaps and bounds better quality than other toy scopes in this range.

I got this for when my niece and nephew visit. I live a bit off the beaten path, so I get to see a lot of stars anyway, but I have an app that notifies you when certain things happen, solar flares, ISS flies over, etc. within your viewing area. I thought it would be neat to have a telescope to show the kids a closer view of some of these things, and boy was I right. They spent every night of the week they were here outside playing with it, which also let them burn off a bit more energy since it's winter and gets dark early. It's nothing fancy, which also means it's really easy to use, but it suits our purposes and it seems to be triggering an interest in my niece who has started bringing space books over with her so she has more things to look at when she comes over.

I have never set up a telescope, but I was able to have this one up and going in about 10 minutes. I haven't had a chance to look at the moon with it so I will update later once we can do it. I was able to see a distant object in the viewfinder, and use the lower magnification lens to find and focus on it so far. Looks great. Wish it was a full size stand, but I love the carrying case.

I stepped out on a limb when purchasing this for my grandson for Christmas. It certainly wasn't the cheapest item in this category, but it wasn't the most expensive either. What I was surprised and very happy about is that it gives great views of the sky! It really picks up details I never expected that it could. He loves it and uses it almost every night. This was definitely money well spent!

It's simple, compact and cheap enough that if it gets broken you won't cry over it. Clear enough for lunar observation. Only issue is that it is so light it is hard for kids not to move it off target getting to the eyepiece. They want to touch the telescope and hold it, which bumps it off. Perfect for testing to make sure they are interested enough to stay with it and justify a better, more expensive telescope later on.

Let me start by saying that neither myself nor my two children (ages 6 and 9) had ever used a telescope before when we got this. We were all very excited to see what it could do - and we were not disappointed! The instructions were clear and I appreciated that there were pictures to help those of us that are clueless when it comes to telescopes. I was able to easily assemble it within a matter of minutes. We got lucky and had a beautiful full moon the night we set this up. It was below freezing and snowy here in MA so we used it through the window. We were still able to see a nice clear, detailed image of the moon. The directions stress that even the slightest touch will move the image out of frame and they were not kidding. My youngest accidentally bumped it a couple of times after I had it setup but she learned quickly not to touch and it was easy enough to get it back in position. The kids were thrilled with what they could see and we are all looking forward to being able to take it outside in warmer weather. I would definitely recommend this telescope! It was quick and easy to setup, works really well, and is compact and light for storage and moving around.

My son and I were able to easily adjust the eyepieces and see the moon and a few stars. He was excited to spot things right away. I liked the tripod feature, but my 8 year old felt more comfortable holding the telescope to view the sky. We'd love to take this on our next trip up to the mountains where the sky is a lot clearer and there are more stars to look at than in the city.
