I'm not a big fan of unnecessary kitchen gadgets but this is a great little product. I was just introduced to soft-boiled eggs by a friend and they are my new favorite. But cracking them with a knife apparently requires better eye-hand coordination than I have. I would hit too hard or not hard enough. Invariably I would hit too low and then have the egg falling out and yolk running everywhere. This little tool takes care of all those problems. Simply set it on top of the egg, pull the 'knob' up and let it go. It creates a perfect crack in just the right place and makes breakfast a whole lot neater!
